fifa.pngThe Glitz and Glamour of Division 2 culminated in the awards ceremony earlier this week. All the managers from this seasons Division 2 were in attendence as well as some old faces. The Ceremony started off with a stellar show with Music and Bright lights and then a Summary about the season by league Chairman HeyMarko1989.

Marko joined Blondedan at the start of the season as Co-Chairman, but some assumed full control. Although his speech was long-winded and left many of the managers wanting to take a sledgehammer to the balls. The main focus was on congratulating Gooner Keano, Devilshaircut01, Andy Hamsonaldo and Blackenambaa on automatic promotion this season. Those 4 lead the league this season for its entireity with Gooner keano only breaking away before the halfway point.

Another quality season in the XBLN leagues has finally drawn to a close with the play off final being played out to seal the fate for all members of division one. With that in mind, now is as good a time as any to look back on an eventful season and see how each participant faired:

RinceWindy:  Position 20th – 29pts
Division one’s resident Scarlet Pimpernel, only finished the season having played 34 games and as a result faced a few of the judges votes, but truth e told his fate had already been sealed and relegation to division two had looked likely most off the season as he battled against the drop, seven wins all season was never going to keep him safe but maybe if he had completed his games he could have survived. On second thoughts probably not!

This was the game of Group H so far, a seven goal thriller with excitement from start to finish, and no end of attacking football on display. With Bulgaria looking like the strongest team in Group H, its down to the rest to steal that second place spot, so both teams had all to play for.

The 1st half kicked off, and after 5 minutes, the dutch were stunned, when Topal for Turkey showed why the fans call him the Twinkle-Toes-Turk, he danced around 3 dutch defenders mesmorising them with his nifty footwork and scored a beauty, 1-0 to Turkey and silence fell around the dutch camp.

fifa.pngDivision 1 has had its ups and downs this season, not least for the guy’s hovering above the relegation zone. One such manager is Newcastle's Manager Dean Young who we caught up with to get his thoughts on a season where mid table mediocrity turned out to be a season of great triumph.

Dean Young took up the job at Newcastle Football Club after firstly Gazfx and then Joky were both sacked by the club. The fact they were bottom of the league with only 20 points a minus 35 goal difference, left a lot to be done!

Now that it has come to the end of the season, it is amazing to see the League table and to see that somehow Newcastle have managed to stay afloat. A new season in division one now beckons and with some extremely high expectations, nothing short of a promotion challenge will be accepted by the fans!

"When I was offered the chance to get back into management I snatched at it straight away, But it was to my amusement that it was Newcastle being a well known Middlesborough fan, and to make things worse they were rock bottom with a huge battle ahead.  I decided I had to stay positive and told my boy's to march on and prove they are worthy enough. I must admit I was amazed that with the release of the article by Gypsymuffin on Relegation candidates that we were not mentioned and used that to spur on the players. The standard has been set for the Club and I expect it to continue into next season hopefully we can get off to a good start and have a successful campaign next season."

With the league deadline now passed and all Matches completed the Managers are having a short break. The XBLN World Cup now underway  Newcastle's manager Dean Young is looking forward to the event and taking on the challenge of international football, who knows maybe he can work some small miracles on the world stage as well!

So the seasons over, and from my own point of view it’s been one of the best since I started playing in the XBLN leagues. Great banters, guys doing their best to get the games played, an all round good laugh. So with that being said let’s look at how everyone did and give a quick round up.

Parm21: There’s only one word to describe this lad, and that’s a fighter. Despite having one of the worst seasons that anyone has experienced on XBLN he hung in there right till the end of the season. Hopefully he’ll have improved fortunes next season and bounce back.
