The Glitz and Glamour of Division 2 culminated in the awards ceremony earlier this week. All the managers from this seasons Division 2 were in attendence as well as some old faces. The Ceremony started off with a stellar show with Music and Bright lights and then a Summary about the season by league Chairman HeyMarko1989.
Marko joined Blondedan at the start of the season as Co-Chairman, but some assumed full control. Although his speech was long-winded and left many of the managers wanting to take a sledgehammer to the balls. The main focus was on congratulating Gooner Keano, Devilshaircut01, Andy Hamsonaldo and Blackenambaa on automatic promotion this season. Those 4 lead the league this season for its entireity with Gooner keano only breaking away before the halfway point.
Although There were many highs in the league, the Chairman also offered his commiserations to Parm21, TURTLE ZED, Pettigrew26 and Sigur Rossco who were relegated by filling the bottom 4 places in the table and will play their football in division 3. Also For WhiskeyBarnes123 who lost a Relegation playoff game against xRuudx, condemming Whiskey or "the Butcher" to an immediate return to the bottom Division.
There are though still got 3 games to play, 2 playoff semi finals, involving ScottieDawgLive, ToonUltra, o Lucas v and ShammyStu with the winners of the 2 games playing in the final with the winner of that playing in Division 1 next season.
So to the awards and the first was the player of the season award, Nominated by the board of Chairman for Division 2. The shortlist Drawn up was Gooner Keano, Devilshaircut01 and Andy Hamsonaldo. The three players excelled for much of the season and all finished with high goalscoring records. In 3rd Place was Devilshaircut01, despite losing some big games, Devils still achieved a 2nd place finish. In 2nd place Was Andy Hamsonaldo, One of only 2 players to lose less than 10 games. And the winner was Gooner Keano, League champion, Only 6 losses and a mighty +66 goal difference.
In the players Player Award, Devilshaircut01 ran away with the award with over half the votes. With the promise of more outrageous press conferences and Lewd comments Division 1 has got a great player now.
And finally the Golden Boot. Some honourable mentions for Andrew Johnson, Giampaolo Pazzini and Danny Kovermans whom all scored 30+ goals for their clubs. But 3rd Place was Carlton Cole who bagged 43 goals for ShammyStu's Hammers. 2nd Place and cruelly by 1 goal on 55 was Guiza. The Fenerbache striker who pleased boss Andy hamsonaldo with some brilliant performances. But the winner was Kader Keita and Devilshaircut01. Gala earned promotion purely off the back of Keita's strikes.
