Another quality season in the XBLN leagues has finally drawn to a close with the play off final being played out to seal the fate for all members of division one. With that in mind, now is as good a time as any to look back on an eventful season and see how each participant faired:

RinceWindy:  Position 20th – 29pts
Division one’s resident Scarlet Pimpernel, only finished the season having played 34 games and as a result faced a few of the judges votes, but truth e told his fate had already been sealed and relegation to division two had looked likely most off the season as he battled against the drop, seven wins all season was never going to keep him safe but maybe if he had completed his games he could have survived. On second thoughts probably not!

Bubbermankutd: Position 19th – 30pts
A valiant effort from Bubber who never gave up hope and battled to the end but after spending nearly all the season in the drop zone he finally fell through the trap door to division two. Too many draws have probably proved costly with twelve all season, the joint highest in the league.

Da G3nrul3: Position 18th – 34pts
Probably more accustomed to throwing a ball than kicking it, his lack of match practice with the round ball was all to evident as he too faces the new season staring up at a division he used to frequent.  I’m sure he will come back more determined than ever, but if he wants to return to division one he may have to give up his Madden exploits and concentrate on a proper sport!

The Mouth1888 – Position 17th 36pts
The gamertag says it all really, all mouth and no trousers as he too will be dropping down to division two next season. With the silky skills of Robinhio leading the line at Santos I really expected more, but not even a striker off his quality could rescue TheMouth from his inevitable fate this year.

A9 XSJ – Position 16th 40pts
First things first, he needs to get a proper gamertag, I mean a car registration what’s all that about! From a Fifa point of view though he went from a robin reliant to a Mercedes with probably the greatest escape since Steve McQueen broke out of a German POW camp. After looking dead and buried at the halfway point a change of team meant a change of results and victory in the relegation play off final preserved his division one status, at least for another season.

Macbullyboy – Position 15th 41pts
A bad run off form towards the end of the season saw Macbullyboy drop into the relegation zone and ultimately proved very costly as he lost out to A9XSJ in the relegation playoff. Will need to find some consistency if he wants a quick return to the dizzy heights of division one.

DeanoY18 – Position 14th 46pts
Another great escape this time from XBLN resident gob-shite, DeanoY18. In fairness to Deano he took over from a team deep in trouble at the foot of the table after two other managers had tried and failed to improve the fortunes of Newcastle. An excellent season all in all and probably capped off with his win over the eventual title holder.

Gmac2008 – Position 13th 51pts
Never in any real trouble all season but also not really threatening the promotion race, meant it is probably a season to forget for Gmac. Maybe with a bit more practice he can push on and start mounting a play off challenge come the new season.

XI Fletcha IX – Position 12th 51pts
Fletcha holds the title for worst managerial decision since Steve Maclaren took an umbrella to Wembley, when after an absolutely blistering start to the season he decided to swap the south coast for dreary Burnley and plummeted down the table quicker than a two dollar hooker looking for a tip. Mid table meritocracy was probably a blessing for him in the end!

Dr Eagle G – Position 11th 54pts
Division one’s draw specialist proved it once again with twelve draws, twelve losses and 14 wins he is once again Mr Average! To be honest Eagle keeps the ball better than most people I’ve played on this site; his problem is he forgets he needs to shoot to win games.

Zackajake – Position 10th 56pts
Battled all season with Stuey for the league’s biggest moaner title and at the start of the season looked like he had a lot to complain about as he was on the wrong end of some big score lines, but after an reverting back to familiar territory in Borussia Monchengladbach, He put in some sterling performances and maybe if he sticks with what he knows next season, he could be in with a shout of the promotion shake up.

Pesassassin – Position 9th 57 pts
After starting the season struggling with Nottingham Forest he looked to be heading into division two, but a change of teams meant a change of fortunes as he stormed up the league in the second half of the season, with a little bit more luck maybe he could have pinched a play off place.

Dabber12 – Position 8th 58pts
Hand out some big beatings to a few of the guys in division one this season but looked to have let it slip after only just managing to keep his place in the play off’s. Ultimately it was enough after a convincing win over Pcookie22 in the play off final he can expect to be on the other end of those score lines next year unless he also learns to defend as well as attack.

Pcookie22 – Position 7th 60pts
After picking up Buners toys and putting them back in the cot, he took up the reigns of Real sporting and quickly turned the relegation candidates in to promotion hopefuls. With a trip to Wembley secured in the play off final, he forgot to bring his players along as by all accounts he went down without much off a fight. Will be looking to go that extra step next year and not suffer the dreaded play off curse again.

Skullcrackaz – Position 6th 61pts
After being tipped as relegation fodder early on by his fellow manager she looked to dispel those thoughts, but it took a little gift from fellow manager Fletcha, in the form of Portsmouth to really change his fortunes, maybe if he had started with a better team he could have threatened the promotion race but alas it was not to be as he suffered play off heartache after being despatched by Pcookie in the semi-finals

DX I Jaminator – Position 5th 62pts
He started the season with high hopes and lots of promises but a poor second half of the season proved costly as he slipped out of automatic promotion places and into the dreaded play off zone. With all his momentum lost he struggled to put up much of a fight and was convincingly beaten by the eventual winner Dabber12.

Gypsymuffin – Position 4th 68pts
Luckily for him he’s a better Fifa player than he is a pundit after incorrectly predicting many off his fellow manager’s fates. He started the season early favourite but struggled early on, it took a rallying call to finally galvanise his team into promotion hopefuls. As the saying goes – form is temporary, class is permanent, not that the saying applies to Gypsy!

Beckowitz – Position 3rd 71pts
A skilled Fifa performer, which he quickly proved soon after joining the division. After taking up probably the worst team in the division with QPR, he turned them into goal machines, despatching most teams with relevant ease. His stamina maybe in question though as he seemed to run out of steam towards the back end of the season and came up a little short. That being said if he had control of QPR from the start of the season it may just have had enough in his locker to snatch the title from Stuey’s grasp.

RFC Buncey – Position 2nd 77pts
He would have been disappointed with his early season form as too many draws proved very costly indeed. With eleven in total it definitely prevented him from putting up a real fight for the title, but I’m sure he won’t be too disappointed with a quick return to the premiership.

StueySAFC Position – 1st 84pts
The question is what didn’t he win this year, the title, top goal scorer, most games won, most goals scored. In the end nobody put up enough of a fight to really trouble Stuey and the title was probably decided with a few games to spare. A worthy winner and should put up some good competition for the premiership big boys next year. Now if only he would stop his moaning!

Well that’s it, it’s finally over, with only the world cup left to look forward too until Fifa 11 is released, it’s time to get back on the training ground and work on those silky skills ready for the next instalment of the XBLN’s Fifa Leagues. As the famous quote from Ken Wolstenholme goes “they think it’s all over, it is now”.

Stuey lost more games than me, therefore he didn't win all the awards. smilies/wink.gif
