TweetThis was the game of Group H so far, a seven goal thriller with excitement from start to finish, and no end of attacking football on display. With Bulgaria looking like the strongest team in Group H, its down to the rest to steal that second place spot, so both teams had all to play for.
The 1st half kicked off, and after 5 minutes, the dutch were stunned, when Topal for Turkey showed why the fans call him the Twinkle-Toes-Turk, he danced around 3 dutch defenders mesmorising them with his nifty footwork and scored a beauty, 1-0 to Turkey and silence fell around the dutch camp.
11 minutes into the game and Robben lofted a beautiful cross straight into the path of the oncoming Kuyt who headed a bullet straight into the top corner, 1-1 and the Dutch could breath again. The 1st half was full of impressive attacking football, and surprisingly it was thew Turkish who looked the most skillful on the ball, but with the array of dutch wonder-stars, you could never write them off. 1st half finished level.
2nd half, and neither team felt the need for changes, but the air was electric, with the tense atmosphere from both sets of fans. A loss for either team would probably put them out of the World Cup. Well it didn't take long for the Turks to upset the dutch again, when some neat passing put Nihat through on 69mins and score, 2-1 Turkey.
Manager TURTLE ZED, had to make a brave bold move at this point, so it was 3 at the back, off came the light-weight Robben and Sneijder, and on came Babel and Huntelaar to add a little muscle to the dutch attack. But on 70 mins, Huntelaar who'd only been on the pitch for a couple of minutes was absolutley flattened in a fair but firm Turkish challenge. Well the dutch had made all their subs, Huntelaar was injured, and they were a goal down, it was disaster for TZs Orange brigade.
But on 77 minutes, Van der Vaart latched onto a loose ball and rifled it past the keeper, totally out of the ball, but the dutch were back in this roller-coaster of a game.
At 2-2, the match was looking like it was heading for a draw, but on 87 mins, Emre again, dazzling the dutch defence scored an amazing solo effort,surely this was game over, and Turkey take the 3 points?
The game restarted, and 30 seconds later, Huntelaar who'd shaken off his injury, managed to squeeze yet another equaliser for the dutch who just weren't going to go down without a fight.
3-3, could this game have got any crazier, with goals appearing on 87 mins, 88 mins! Yes 90 mins, a Kuyt winner! How on earth the dutch won this I don't know, and they didn't deserve to win it either. But somehow they did, it was one of the craziest ends to a thrilling encounter between these two teams, but you have to feel for the Turks, they deserved more.
Still the dutch wont mind a bit and walk away with a win at last, and following on from their draw last match, their still unbeaten, but Bulgaria will be a tougher battle, but on this display, who know's, after all this is the XBLN World cup.
