It all began many years ago with the purchase of an XBox 360 in February 2006 and the game PES5.After playing many a ranked slag and joining "An Inferior Pro Evo Site" and ProEvoNetwork, it became clear that only one site was going to be the winner, with the use of a mic and no deliberate lagging, ProEvoNetwork became the preferred choice for gaming.
Prior to that, the welcomes were posted in the forums and the games began. MaXiMuS VeNoM was one of the first opponents and we had many a challenging game against each other, with results usually, ending up good against the run of play. Within no time I found myself a member of the newly created Central League due to numbers being too great to accommodate the amount of new people signing up.
After playing slagtastic Mowgli, MTH91, Talcs8, DaJaUK and other PES Central league members with my chosen Juventus, I missed out on a division 1 placing though coin toss...A special mention to Timans and Jonaldinhio at this point as they were the old sparring partners in the footballing sim world, may they be remembered...
The league system then changed, so that the better players were in the correct divisions, and the Central, North, East, South and West Super leagues then became one super league system, and I was placed in Division 2.
Division 2 went well and Inter Milan were my first team of choice, although they didn't exactly work well with my style, so Man City came back into the fold and for the second season running, I missed out on a promotion through coin toss.
Next up, PES6 and the random draw, things were getting exciting and I was drawn Charlton Athletic! Immediately disposed of in a swap deal for Benfica as I was re-united with Miccolli who fast became my top scorer as he was with Juve. An inspired swap at mid season for Newcastle United saw me pick up lots of points and finish top of the division.
Another good season following that saw me finish in the play-off positions in a newly named Circa82 Division 1 (courtesy of sponsor Old Faithful,) playing MU11EN and Medics to secure promotion, using West Ham initially (and very poorly), and then using the transfer window to ultimate advantage with a three way swap with Manky Scots Git and s1ocombe, to secure Udinese and haul my way up the table.
Then came PES2008, a whole barrel of crap with the leagues flopping due to the game being no good and players dropping out and moving over to the then darkside FIFA08...An interim league was run by myself, although the lack of effort put into this by the players led to me putting more time into it than they did. It did get somewhere with Kholwadia winning the premiership using Lokomotiv Moscow, and Dabber12, V Maximus Prime and Superceltic holding onto the good old PES days. BrutalRoy even popped back in, and then back out again!
FIFA08 came and went in no time as I found myself in the Championship with an indiscriminate Charlton Athletic once again...mediocrity as predicted.
Around here came the second dawning of XBLN with CGN paving the way to the new structure, to encompass the fact that PES was dead (at least on the 360) and to cover more games and the fact that this indeed is a community thing.
FIFA09 was next up and I was drawn a randomly bad team as per usual, however, in a bid for Hoffenheim, I won and took the Championship by storm!!! I felt I was being too slaggy though and chose a poor team from Turkey, only to throw away first position and finish in second to Baiiles, who wasn't on his own at mid season going for a team that were guaranteed increase in stats at the January transfer update.
Life in the Premiership was very difficult and the division was full of mute slags (not really, just my excuse), as I failed to amass enough points with Rayo Vallecano and Hibernian and was duly demoted.
Now, I reside in the division I run and am on a very poor run of form with OGC Nice, I look forward to the transfer window with my huge lack of CGYen as I will be stating my interest in a team closer to home.
Throughout the site and my experience, other points to bring up were and are the hugely successful Madden Leagues, the highly anticipated COD nights (which began at COD2 with dancing on the chest of drawers and climbing into the tree) the small but fun Bankshot Billiards 2 League, Halo and team kills nights, Gears of War and GoW2 which both became massive on the site for periods and much more.
