WHAT IS VIP?
The VIP package is a way of showing your support for CGN and its network of sites, XBLN, PS3N and more coming soon. More info further down, but without your support via this package, CGN's future could be in jeopardy. Its a monthly subscription system, where you pay a small amount per month and ensure that CGN is here for the long haul.
VIP is a member group that has extra features on the board that ordinary members do not have. They also have access to a hidden VIP only forum where we will be posting important site decision polls and also showcasing new features in advance.
WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VIP AND VIP+?
VIP is a forum only subscription.
VIP+ has the same privilages that VIP has, but also includes a sizable webhost package added on to it. More info posted further down.
WHAT DOES THE MONTHLY DONATION COVER?
Any money submitted to CGN, stays in CGN. The hosting for the server is quite expensive and is required due to the activity of Complete Gaming Network's websites on a daily basis. The forum also has licenses which have to be paid for, this includes seperate licenses for the gallery, blog and downloads. Then we have other features utilised on the site that also require license payments, be they monthly, yearly or one off.
DOES ANY PROFIT GET MADE?
No. CGN is not a profit geared website. Never has been. Never Will be. Too many people put too much effort into the site for one person to take a profit from it. Thats the way it shall stay, until CGN ceases to exist.
If we wanted to make a profit from this site, we'd be like other sites and have Google Ads and other crap strewn all over the place, which, IMO, cheapens a website. We have no ads, apart from for our own events/websites and so on.
Anything extra made by CGN will either be left to cover any future expense or maybe a one off competition for a game or something will be made available to VIP members.
HOW DO I GO ABOUT BECOMING A VIP?
All you need do is select the package you want to take on (from the link at the bottom of this article), which will then take you to a page to select the package you would like to subscribe to. If you have a paypal account, it will do it via that, if you don't, you can use a credit or debit card.
Upon completion of that, send DavoteK a PM with the paypal e-mail address you signed up with, then everything will be sorted for you.
WHAT SIZE WEBHOSTING PACKAGE DO YOU GET WITH VIP+?
We used to run SMVnetwork hosting as the side venture to help pay for PEN (the site prior to CGN). One of the hosting packages on there, was the SMVsilver package. We have pretty much duplicated that package as the extra you get with the VIP+ package;
Web Space - 1GB
Monthly Bandwidth - 30GB
SQL Databases - Unlimited
FTP Accounts - Unlimited
E-mail Addresses - Unlimited
Plus a feature packed Web Site Control Panel that comes with all kinds of software, scripts and goodies to play with.
This package alone would normally set you back £10 per month, but comes as standard with the VIP+ package. We are on a very powerful dedicated server, run by one of the best web-hosts on the net, so its an excellent deal, especially after the hosting nightmares we have had with previous webhosts.
You can either setup a subdomain of a number of domains we have at our disposal as your website;
e.g http://davo.completegamingnetwork.com or http://davo.xbln.net or http://davo.ps3n.net
Or, you can register your own domain with a domain registrar and host it on the server. We don't buy or sell the domain names, you'll have to go elsewhere for that.
WHATS THIS ABOUT A HIDDEN FORUM?
There are a couple of hidden forums accessible only by VIP members. One will be used for general future CGN discussions, like polls on things we will do and won't do. Such things like random draws, transfer window alterations, or any other policy alteration. Couple that with seeing CGN's new features before everyone else, BETA testing them to see if we wanna use them or to get them right, ready for public use.
